Recently, my PS3 began acting up (same day as my folks', different topic).
While playing a game (The Saboteur, if it matters) the screen suddenly filled with a green static and I was forced to hard-reset my console.
Since then, I have gotten nothing but static when attempting to use my PS3.
I did attempt to reset the output manually (holding the power button past power-on) and I was eventually able to get the picture up (prompting me to fix output settings).... For about twelve seconds.
It is an older ("fat") 80gb system that I ordered through GameStop- the last PS3 model, in fact, capable of playing PS2 games (characterised by 4 USB slots plus other (mostly useless) inputs).
The visual effect seemed similar to a standalone controller game (I.e. Atari retro joystick) whose batteries are dying.
