lagging in online play ruining the experience

Call me a grumpy old man or whatever you want,but this lagging issue is really getting way out of hand! The price of systems and games today,which are getting up there,and dont get me wrong,alot of the games today are truely awesome,but jumping into a game only to see non stop rubber banding/LAG is really making me consider retiring from the whole gaming scene.Im 45 and have been gaming since,well the begining/arcades,and I think its way long overdue for MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS,I realize there are some that  cant help it because of regional issues, IE isps failing to upgrade,but for those of us that do have legit internet,why cant we be seperated from the ones causing the issues! It will be a very sad ending to an issue thats totally fixable,but will the powers that be use common sense over profits! PSN is a really awesome concept,but I think the greed over profits is the hold up!
