I sent my original PS4 in for a warranty service in January (Case #: 09510052). When I did so, I did not realize I would not receive my same system back, and failed to deactivate the device before sending it in.
I received a replacement PS4 from Sony and went about setting it up. As part of that process, I was forced to use the "Can only be done once every 6 months, deactivate all devices" option. A few days after setting up the replacement PS4, it stopped turning on and I was forced to send it back for service again (Case #: W-09946910). Due to the inability to start up the console, I was unable to deactivate it before sending it in, but I did request the system be deactivated on the service request form.
I received my second replacement PS4 on 2/27 and upon hooking it up found that the previous system had not been deactivated, per my request. I initiated a chat with a service rep, who sent me a link to an online form to request a deactivation, but my request was denied.
What recourse do I now have? Wait six months? Call customer support and sit on hold for hours to beg for assistance?
