I have an HDMI cable running from the PS4 into an HDMI extension cable, which then connects to my TV. After turning the PS4 on, the PS homescreen appears, but the screen begins to flash to black, then back again, at intervals of a few seconds. Seems like the signal has been weakened, possibly either due to the length of the extension cable (15 feet), or has deliberately become unstable due to HDCP protocol. Btw, extension cable has been tested with other equipment and works fine, as does the PS4 when running one HDMI cable to a TV (eliminating solution-deflection variables).
Just wondering if anyone knows, before I incur the expense of a shorter, high-quality extension cable, is the PS4 programmed to deny HDMI extension cable usage? If not, is there a default length that is recommended to stay under?
I've already chatted with someone at SCEA and got a whole lot of nothing. Would be highly appreciated if someone with actual knowledge of this topic would respond.
