I can't play my saved games.

My ps3 was disconnected from WiFi then my ps3 would freeze upon sign in. I corrected that by rebuilding the database and now I get an error when I try to load my saved games. I tried signing into my old psn account but kept getting an error that the enail address belonged to another user. So unfortunately I followed some bad advice and created another psn account. But I read that I can retrieve my data by signing into the psn and activating (or deactivating the re-activating) my account. But I can't sign into my psn with my user account. Is there any way I can get my saved games back or am I screwed?
