No pop-up message when charging controller?

Hi, I recently bought a PS4 and have noticed that when I plug in my controller for charging, it wont give me the pop-up message showing me it is charging. Why is this?

Is it not supposed to give you that message as soon as you plug in the USB cable to the controller?
