I'm having a sound problem on anything playing on my PS3

Hello everyone.  I seem to be having a sound issue that I am tracing back to the PS3.  I have a 5-speaker stereo system in my bedroom.  I ran a sound / speaker test through the sound system itself and the test tone is coming through perfectly on all 5 speakers.  When I watch regular TV, all of the speakers work fine.  When I play a DVD, which is part of my Sony sound system, the sound is fine.  However, anything I play on the PS3 (Netflix, media I am streaming from my home server, YouTube videos, etc) the sound only comes out of my left speaker and not my right.  I have confirmed that the speaker works fine.  I have the PS3 connected via HDMI to my TV and the TV then outputs via digital optical cable to the sound system so I am at a loss as to why this is happening.

Now, as I was typing this I decided to try something different.  I put a movie DVD in the PS3 and the sound is working perfectly, meaning the sound is coming out of both the left and right speakers.  So the problem seems to be related to the way Internet content is being played.  Also, I have a home server and via DNLA, I stream the movies from my server to the PS3 but again, no sound comes from the right speaker when I do this.

Anyone want to take a guess as possible problems and/or solutions?
